Bangladesh go 1-0 up with 48-run win

Credit to Windies. They could have easily gotten bowled out earlier and we could have all gone home 56 ball earlier. But Joseph and Bishoo have played out the overs and given themselves a couple of 29 not-outs.

But taking nothing away from Bangladesh. This is as comprehensive as it gets, especially if you factor in what happened to them in the Test series. Tamim Iqbal and Shakib set it up with that 207-run stand. Mushfiqur provided the late fireworks before Mashrafe & Co. exploited that famously tacky Guyana surface.

What'll be the Windies' response to this defeat? That should be fun!

The last wicket pair continues to annoy Bangladesh...

Victory isn't far and hence some lethargy has made its way to the middle. Mosaddek Hossain has clanged one. The partnership between Alzarri Joseph and Bishoo is now 37. The target is still some distance away but...

Holder, Russell fall...

Surely that's good night and good bye Windies?! We'll never say never in cricket but it'll take some getting 12 RPO by Ashley Nurse, Bishoo and Co. It's Mortaza's turn to get among the wickets. He gets his opposite number with a couple of off cutters. They stick to the wickets and those aiming for the big hits will always succumb!

Mustafizur breaks the back of this chase

Here on, Windies will have little choice but to hit out such is the devastation of the comeback man Mustafizur. Hetmeyr charges but the ball stops on him a bit and his aerial shot finds extra cover. Then Rovman Powell nicks the first ball to leave the side at 141 for 6.

Hetmeyr completes half-century

A 70-ball half-century for Shimron Hetmeyr. Just needs to keep it together through this tough phase. Power hitting is anyway Windies' forte. Been a very good innings so far. Had to deal with the Gayle run-out as well.

The pressure builds

Jason Mohammed dances down the pitch to Mehidy Hasan and a nick is pouched by Rahim. This wicket is completely down to the scoreboard pressure. The required rate touching 8.5! All hopes on Hetmeyr now

Gayle run-out

Calamitous! That was Gayle's call (the non-striker) but Shimron Hetmeyr was not responding at all. He dabbed the ball towards short-third man so it was always the non-striker's call. Gayle batted very slowly 40 (60) but he was not given a chance to build it into a big one. Trouble for WI!

New man in is Jason Mohammed.

Drinks:

17 overs 67/2. It's a very sedate. But given Windies have power players like Andre Russell waiting in the wings, all they need now is a partnership. Can young Hetmeyr step it up with Gayle?

A tale of two DRS calls

It's all happening at the Providence Stadium. Mehidy raps Galye on the pads with the one that goes with the arm. Umpire calls it not out. Mushfiqur says 'No' to the review straight away. Mashrafe calls for a mini-meeting. There's no time for it. As it turns out, that was a three-reds scenario! Gayle was on 18.

The very next ball, also the first ball of the match for Rubel Hussain, Shai Hope fell over in his attempted flick and copped one on his front pad. Umpire gave it out and Gayle asked his partner not to waste a review. Another wrong call as that was sliding down leg. West Indies two down!

Lewis succumbs to scoreboard pressure

Some runs were needed and Lewis succumbed to the pressure of having to compensate for Gayle's slow start. Looks to hit over the top of mid-off but finds the man instead. 27/1

Shai Hope is the new man in!

A sedate start

It's become common for Gayle to bide his time at the start of innings. An off-spinner bowling wide off the crease is keeping him in check. Lewis is going only slightly better at 17 off 28.
